Tun
Qorong‘u tun
Tun
Sokin tun

Night
Dark night
Night
Quiet night

Tunda yurdim, oy yo‘q edi
Ko‘nglim ichra nur bor edi
Qadamlarim iz qoldirmas
Yurak yo‘lni bilib borar

I walked in the night, there was no moon
But in my heart there was light
My steps left no traces
The heart knew the way

Qayerda, nur
Qayerda, yod
Ichimda, yo‘l

Where is the light?
Where is the memory?
The path is within me

Tun, mening do‘stim
Qorong‘ulik, nurning pardasi
Tun, sokin yo‘ldosh
Sukut ichra sir yashaydi

Night, my friend
Darkness, the veil of light
Night, a quiet companion
In silence a secret lives

Qayerda, nur
Qayerda, yod
Ichimda, yo‘l

Where is the light?
Where is the memory?
The path is within me

Yulduzlar jim guvoh bo‘ldi
Sukutdagi sir ochildi
Tong kelarmi, bilmas yurak
Lekin yodim so‘nmas edi

The stars became silent witnesses
The secret of silence was revealed
The heart does not know if dawn will come
But my memory never faded

Qayerda, nur
Qayerda, yod
Ichimda, yo‘l

Where is the light?
Where is the memory?
The path is within me

Yorug‘lik parda
Qorong‘u, eshik
Bir yo‘l, ichkari

Light is a veil
Darkness, a door
One path, inward

Tun
Sukunat
Yulduz
Ichki nur

Night
Silence
Star
Inner light

A few words about the translation

The translations convey the meaning: some words of the original do not have one exact equivalent.

Yod
Memory, remembrance, keeping the inner bond alive. In the verses the word can mean not only a recollection but also a memory turned toward God.
Dam / nafas
Dam - a moment, an instant, and in a poetic context also breath. Nafas - breath, an inhalation; the two images deliberately echo each other.
Haq
Truth, the True. In the Islamic tradition al-Haqq is one of the Divine names. The translations keep the address “O Truth”.
Ko‘ngil / dil
Both words are tied to the heart, but their shades differ: ko‘ngil embraces a person’s whole inner world, dil is the heart and its deepest feeling.
Taslim bo‘lish
Literally - to surrender, to submit, to give oneself over. In the line about love the Russian translation says “humble self-giving” and the English one “surrender”; both are literary choices, not the only meaning.
Sukunat / sukut
Close words for silence, stillness, peace. In Yo‘ldagi Nur the ending “Sukunat, nafas” is rendered literally: “Silence, breath”.
