Lyrics
Ey Haq
Ey nur
Dil ichra
Yod ichra
O Truth
O Light
Within the heart
Within remembrance
Ko‘nglim sahro, rahmating shamol
My heart is a desert, Your mercy is the wind
Isming bilan tirilaman
Har nafasim zikr bo‘lib
Ruhim Seni eslab tinch olar
By Your Name I come back to life
Every breath of mine becomes dhikr
My soul finds peace, remembering You
Yaqin, yaqin
Sir, ochil
Dil, uyg‘on
Near, near
Secret, open
Heart, awaken
Dil meniki emas endi
Senga qaytdi, ey Haq
Tun ham, tong ham yo‘l bo‘ldi
Borliqni Sen yaratgan
The heart is no longer mine
It has returned to You, O Truth
Both night and dawn became the path
You created all that exists
Men Seni izlab yashadim
Yo‘llarim uzoq edi
Bir lahzada angladim
Sen menga doim yaqin eding
I lived searching for You
My roads were long
In a single moment I understood
You were always close to me
Dil meniki emas endi
Senga qaytdi, ey Haq
Tun ham, tong ham yo‘l bo‘ldi
Borliqni Sen yaratgan
The heart is no longer mine
It has returned to You, O Truth
Both night and dawn became the path
You created all that exists
Men o‘zimdan o‘tdim
Noming bilan yondim
Sevgi taslim bo‘lish
Yodingda topilish
I passed beyond myself
I burned with Your Name
Love is surrender
To be found in remembrance of You
Dil meniki emas endi
Senga qaytdi, ey Haq
Tun ham, tong ham yo‘l bo‘ldi
Borliqni Sen yaratgan
The heart is no longer mine
It has returned to You, O Truth
Both night and dawn became the path
You created all that exists
Ey Haq
Ey nur
Dil ichra
Yod ichra
O Truth
O Light
Within the heart
Within remembrance
Lyrics: Sergey Sechin. Translations prepared for this edition.
A few words about the translation
The translations convey the meaning: some words of the original do not have one exact equivalent.
- Yod
- Memory, remembrance, keeping the inner bond alive. In the verses the word can mean not only a recollection but also a memory turned toward God.
- Dam / nafas
- Dam - a moment, an instant, and in a poetic context also breath. Nafas - breath, an inhalation; the two images deliberately echo each other.
- Haq
- Truth, the True. In the Islamic tradition al-Haqq is one of the Divine names. The translations keep the address “O Truth”.
- Ko‘ngil / dil
- Both words are tied to the heart, but their shades differ: ko‘ngil embraces a person’s whole inner world, dil is the heart and its deepest feeling.
- Taslim bo‘lish
- Literally - to surrender, to submit, to give oneself over. In the line about love the Russian translation says “humble self-giving” and the English one “surrender”; both are literary choices, not the only meaning.
- Sukunat / sukut
- Close words for silence, stillness, peace. In Yo‘ldagi Nur the ending “Sukunat, nafas” is rendered literally: “Silence, breath”.
